Bangladesh is in transition from a predominantly agrarian economy to one that is industrial and service based. Due to the globalization of the world economy, Bangladesh has opened its market to the world community. To be on par with the neighbouring countries such as India, China, Sri Lanka, and namely the ASEAN economy, gradually and steadily Bangladesh is changing its rules and regulations to bring in foreign investors. Being a developing country, Bangladesh is modernizing its infrastructure including railway, power, water, airlines, airports, seaports, transportation, roads, bridges, oil, & gas sector etc. to provide better services to the foreign investors and for its people. The private sector is playing an increasingly active role in the economic life of the country, while the public sectors concentrate more on the physical & social infrastructure and regulatory functions.

Development projects in Bangladesh require foreign technology, expertise, and funding. GETCO as a private Bangladeshi corporation has been very successful in bringing foreign technology, expertise and funding to their country to aid in development programs. |
|
To date, Cantrade has created a link between Bangladesh and Canada and is supporting the exportation of the Canadian Goods and Services to Bangladesh and importation of Bangladeshi goods into Canada. Current negotiations are underway with a number of major North American manufacturers to support the sale of their products into Bangladesh, through GETCO. |
